Max Holloway Open to Fighting Volkanovski in October Pending Conversation with His Doctors and Coaches

Max Holloway solidified himself as perhaps the greatest featherweight of all time with his emphatic five-round unanimous decision victory over former lightweight champion Frankie Edgar at UFC 240 on Saturday, and he’s already plotting his next title defense.

One interested observer in the crowd for the fight was Australian featherweight contender Alexander Volkanovski who had flown out to the event as a backup fighter in case either Holloway or Edgar failed to make weight.

Volkanovski’s services did not end up being needed and the heavily favored Holloway won as expected, which opened the door for a future title fight in October when the UFC heads back Down Under for UFC 243, which will be headlined by a middleweight title fight between Robert Whittaker who defends his belt against the Nigerian-born New Zealand-based Israel Adesanya.
