After winning the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) interim featherweight title at UFC 206, thanks to a blistering technical knockout win over ex-lightweight champion Anthony Pettis (video), streaking 145-pound phenom Max Holloway punched his ticket to a title unification bout opposite Jose Aldo.
But it’s not happening at UFC 208, scheduled for Feb. 11 in Brooklyn, New York.
That’s because “Blessed” suffered a leg injury after his battle against “Showtime” and won’t be able to train for roughly four-to-six weeks. That prompted Aldo to reveal alternate plans for an interim lightweight title fight in March, thanks to A) Conor McGregor’s absence and B) Holloway’s decision to pass on UFC 208.
