Kelvin Gastelum inched former Ultimate Fighting Championship middleweight titleholder Michael Bisping closer to retirement and did so in unceremonious fashion.
Gastelum wiped out “The Count” with punches in the first round of their UFC Fight Night 122 main event on Saturday at the Mercedes-Benz Arena in Shanghai. A replacement for the suspended Anderson Silva, Bisping succumbed to blows 2:30 into Round 1, his latest setback coming three weeks to the day after he surrendered his 185-pound championship to Georges St. Pierre.
Only two other men have stopped Bisping with strikes: Dan Henderson and Vitor Belfort.
