Mackenzie Dern wasn’t the only female jiu-jitsu ace to win on Friday night.

Five-time jiu-jitsu world champion and ADCC gold medalist Luanna Alzuguir put on a dominating performance in her amateur MMA debut at Gateway Fighting Series in St. Charles, Miss.

Taking on Brittney Cloudy in a flyweight title bout, Alzuguir dominated the contest en route to a third-round submission victory with a rear-naked choke. Cloudy dropped to 6-2 as an amateur MMA fighter.

Alzuguir joined American Top Team earlier this year to prepare for her transition to mixed martial arts, and trained with the likes of UFC bantamweight champion Amanda Nunes and UFC strawweight Nina Ansaroff.
