LFA fighter’s heart stopped during fight: ‘I died in the cage tonight’

A very scary incident took place in the Legacy Fighting Alliance cage over the weekend when competitor C.J. Hancock apparently had his heart stop and suffered kidney failure in the middle of a fight. According to Hancock, his heart stopped twice and he was revived by paramedics on scene at the Houston event.

He explained the situation in a Facebook post, where he said he wasn’t sure how or why it happened but he did have a difficult weight cut:

Later in another Facebook post, he said that he was given eight bags of saline to get back to 206 pounds, and the incident occurred due to severe dehydration.
