After advancing to the finals on Saturday of the one-night, four-man Bellator light heavyweight tournament at Bellator 142: Dynamite, 'King' Mo Lawal will need six to eight weeks to heal. Lawal tells MMA Fighting he suffered both torn cartilage between his ribs as well as an occult fracture of his seventh rib.
The medical definition of an occult fracture is one undetectable by X-rays, but visible in MRIs or bone scans. They are typically seen in the wrists, ribs, tibia and metatarsals. New bone formations are usually visible with three to four weeks following injury.
