Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov will not be traveling to Las Vegas to see his son, Khabib Nurmagomedov, take on Conor McGregor in the main event of UFC 229 on Oct. 6.
The UFC lightweight champion recently appealed to the American president, Donald Trump, via social media in an effort to gain clearance to attend the blockbuster bout. However, on Friday morning, RT.com reported that Abdulmanap was not granted a visa for the event.
Nurmagomedov’s management later confirmed the news to MMA Fighting.
According to the article, Nurmagomedov underwent an interview in Istanbul to secure the visa, but reported that he was not successful in his endeavor when speaking to a Russian new agency, TASS.
