Just when you thought UFC 205 was already stacked to the MSG rafters, UFC president Dana White adds a blockbuster lightweight shootout between undefeated Khabib Nurmagomedov and Michael Johnson to the November 12 lineup.
White announced the matchup during Tuesday’s UFC 205 pre-fight press conference.
Nurmagomedov was expecting to challenge for the lightweight title in his next outing, but champion Eddie Alvarez was assigned to Conor McGregor instead.
Nurmagomedov returned from a two-year layoff due to injuries in April to beat Darrell Horcher. “The Eagle” owns an unblemished 23-0 professional record, and many believe it’s only matter of time before he not only fights for the belt, but sit atop the throne.
