Kelvin Gastelum still thinks 170 is his ‘optimal weight class,' but open to 185 fight against Vitor Belfort

All questions surrounding Kelvin Gastelum have always revolved around his weight, rather than his skills inside the cage.

Over the course of his UFC run, Gastelum has continually bounced between the welterweight and middleweight divisions due to his maddening struggles to make the 170-pound welterweight limit. Gastelum has always stated that he believes welterweight to be his best weight class, and he reiterated that belief on Saturday night.

But after scoring a tremendous third-round TKO victory over top-10 ranked middleweight Tim Kennedy at UFC 206, Gastelum also opened the door for a longer stay at 185.
