Newly crowned UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman (15-1) underwent successful surgery on Tuesday to treat a double hernia. The news was first reported by MMAJunkie.com. A timeline for his return is not yet known, though it’s expected that it’ll be a few weeks before he can return to training.
This isn’t the only injury that “The Nigerian Nightmare” dealt with as of late. Following his most recent fight against Tyron Woodley earlier this month at UFC 235 in Las Vegas, Usman revealed that he had fought through a fractured foot.
