The flyweight division isn’t dead just yet.
On Wednesday afternoon, UFC officials confirmed a rematch between two of the longest tenured 125-pound fighters in Joseph Benavidez and Jussier Formiga had been added to the upcoming UFC Minneapolis card in June.
Benavidez (27-5), a former two-time title challenger, finished his Brazilian foe with a first-round TKO in their initial scrap in 2013. In his most recent outing, Benavidez pushed his win streak to two with a decision over Dustin Ortiz in January. Prior to this, he finished Alex Perez late in the first round in December.
