For a while, it didn’t seem like it’d happen — but a pivotal heavyweight tilt is headed Down Under.
Former UFC champion Junior dos Santos is set to face rising star Tai Tuivasa in the UFC Fight Night 146 main event, Combate reported Thursday night. Tuivasa has called for the matchup for months, but it did not come to fruition until now. UFC officials have not yet confirmed the pairing.
Dos Santos is coming off a one-sided, unanimous-decision win over former WSOF titleholder Blagoy Ivanov earlier this summer. Prior to that, the Brazilian hadn’t fought since a May 2017 knockout loss to then-champ Stipe Miocic.
