Stipe Miocic knocked out Fabricio Werdum with a single punch this past weekend (Sat., May 14, 2016) in the main event of UFC 198 in Curitiba, Brazil (replay here), earning him the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) heavyweight strap.
How did it happen?
According to Junior dos Santos -- a man who holds wins over both Werdum and Stipe -- "Vai Cavalo," although improved, is not a true striker. And trying to go toe-to-toe against a stand-up specialist like Miocic wasn't the smartest thing to do.
With common sense being that Alistair Overeem -- another accomplished striker -- is set to get first dibs at Stipe's strap, "JDS" gave his thoughts on that potential championship match on a recent appearance on The MMA Hour.
