World Series of Fighting made a bit of a splash today with a big signing, but it's not exactly as it seems. The promotion acquired the services of 26-year-old two-time Olympic gold medalist in Judo, Kayla Harrison. But it won't lead to a professional mixed martial arts debut for a while.
USA Today Sports broke the news this morning.
Harrison has signed with the promotion as a brand ambassador and will serve as a commentator for now. Eventually down the line, she will compete in the sport. She says she needs at least another year of training before she will tackle an MMA fight though.
