Jon Jones vs. Anthony Johnson was a dream fight that almost came to fruition in 2015, but both men have now stepped away from the Octagon for vastly different reasons.
Jones, the former light heavyweight champion, is still provisionally suspended after testing positive for performance-enhancing drugs in 2017. His knockout win over Daniel Cormier at UFC 214 was overturned to a No Contest (NC) and ‘DC’ was reinstated as the official 205-pound champ.
‘Bones’ is awaiting a final verdict from the United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA), who could suspend the 31-year-old for a maximum of four years due to his prior suspension for PED use in 2016.
