Johny Hendricks’ loss to Paulo Costa was the last fight on his UFC contract

Four years ago at UFC 167, Johny Hendricks was perhaps unfortunate not to have dethroned Georges St-Pierre as the UFC’s welterweight champion. Last Saturday at UFC 217, both men competed at middleweight, with GSP winning the middleweight belt from Michael Bisping, while Hendricks was beaten up and stopped by Paulo Henrique Costa. The lopsided defeat dropped him to 2-5 in his last seven fights, and it may be the end of the road for “Bigg Rigg.”

Leading up to fight night, the Calgary Sun reported that Hendricks’ contract was set to run out after UFC 217.
