There was quite a bit of bad blood between top lightweights Michael Johnson and Dustin Poirier ahead of their pivotal main event bout at UFC Fight Night 94 last weekend. They exchanged words and glares at the ceremonial weigh-ins and chose not to touch gloves just before the opening bell on Saturday night.
Johnson, who knocked “The Diamond” out early in the first round, was surprised by the lack of respect that came from his opponent, despite a rivalry between their respective camps, the Blackzilians and American Top Team, two elite South Floridian mixed martial arts gyms.
“The whole week leading up to the fight was just nothing but disrespect,” Johnson told The Anik and Florian Podcast.
