Johnny Walker blames wrong strategy for UFC 244 loss, hopes for quick turnaround against ‘Shogun’ Rua-Paul Craig winner

Corey Anderson stopped Johnny Walker in the first round at UFC 244, and the Brazilian light heavyweight knows what went wrong on Saturday night at Madison Square Garden.

Walker was on a roll after knocking out Khalil Rountree, Justin Ledet and Misha Cirkunov in a combined time of 2:48 in the UFC. But he thinks that not fighting like his real self led to his first loss since 2016.

“I know it was my mistake,” Walker told MMA Fighting. “I hesitated too much. I should have been more aggressive, but I didn’t.
