The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Bantamweight title scene just got a little more interesting. UFC announced today (Sat., Aug. 13, 2016) that former Flyweight contenders John Dodson and John Lineker will headline UFC Fight Night 96 on Oct. 1 from Moda Center in Portland, Oregon. It is funny that the two will now meet at 135 pounds after all this time with championship aspirations on the line.
Dodson, 31, lost two title bids opposite current Flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson in 2013 and 2015, but has since defeated Manvel Gamburyan via first-round knockout in his Bantamweight debut. He will look to leapfrog a handful of perennial contenders by using his unparalleled speed and athleticism to debunk the heavy-handed Lineker.
