Brazilian light heavyweight John Allan Arte has accepted a one-year suspension after coming up positive for a banned substance, UFC anti-doping partner U.S. Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) and the promotion jointly announced on Friday.
Arte, 26, failed an in-competition test following his first UFC fight, which took place in July at UFC Sacramento and resulted in a decision win over Mike Rodriguez. USADA said analysis of Arte’s urine sample found metabolites of the banned hormone and metabolic modulator tamoxifen, which carries a one-year suspension for first time offenders. MMAFighting first reported Arte’s drug failure in August.
