The bantamweight scrap was bumped up to the pay-per-view card of UFC 228 following the cancellation of the scheduled women’s flyweight title fight between UFC champion Nicco Montano and Valentina Shevchenko, the UFC announced on Friday afternoon.
Montano was hospitalized early Friday morning prior to UFC 228’s official weigh-ins. According to a statement released to MMA Fighting by Montano’s training partner Steve Hanna, Montano was “treated at the local hospital for issues regarding her kidney function.” Hanna added that Montano “will be fine in a few days.”
