Cynthia Calvillo is moving up a weight class, and also venturing into her first scheduled five-round main event.
ESPN’s Brett Okamoto reports that the UFC is targeting June 13th for a women’s flyweight matchup between Calvillo and former title challenger Jessica Eye.
Eye (15-7, 1 NC) seemingly stalled out at bantamweight, where she lost four consecutive bouts before moving back to 125 lbs in 2018. From there, she rattled off wins over Kalindra Faria, Jessica-Rose Clark, and Katlyn Chookagian to earn a title shot against Valentina Shevchenko. Needless to say, it went poorly and she suffered a frightening head kick KO loss at UFC 238.
