TUF 26 winner Nicco Montano was stripped of the UFC women’s flyweight title due to her inability to defend it at UFC 228 against Valentina Shevchenko. The 29-year-old fighter was forced out of the fight because of complications due to a bad weight cut.
Another fighter who had gone through something similar is Joanna Jedrzejczyk, who had to lose 15 pounds in 14 hours to make weight for her title defense against Rose Namajunas at UFC 217 last November. She made the 115 pound-mark and the title fight on, but ended up losing the belt via first-round stoppage.
