Jacare Souza undergoes successful knee surgery, targets late summer return to UFC

Top Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) middleweight contender Ronaldo Souza is less than a week removed from his technical knockout victory over Vitor Belfort (video), which took place in the UFC 198 pay-per-view (PPV) co-main event last weekend (Sat., May 14, 2016) inside Arena da Baixada in Curitiba, Brazil.

But his win over "The Phenom" did not come without a price.

"Jacare" injured his knee in training camp and was forced to undergo surgery to repair his meniscus, which not only sidelined him for the next two-to-three months, according to Ariel Helwani, but also robbed him of the opportunity to rematch Luke Rockhold for the middleweight title.
