It won’t be long before Chris Weidman is forced to venture beyond middleweight division

After months of hype, debate, and endless analysis, Saturday’s middleweight title-tilt between reigning 185-pound champion Chris Weidman and the ageless-assassin otherwise known as Vitor Belfort didn’t even see the second round.

Sidelined since last July’s win over Lyoto Machida with a pair of injuries and facing a much smaller version of Belfort than the one that we’ve seen in the past, Weidman absorbed what little offense his opponent had to offer before taking him down just before the three minute mark of the opening round, finishing the veteran with a flurry of strikes on the way to earning a TKO-victory.
