No fight combined for as many strikes landed at UFC 228 as Irene Aldana’s bantamweight bout with Lucie Pudilova on the Fight Pass prelims. In fact, not one other bout saw its competitors land as many significant strikes put together as either Aldana or Pudilova did individually.
It was a war of attrition, with both women landing largely at will, and Aldana’s smoother, more technical style and propensity for leg kicks having left her with just a bit more in the tank as the fight went on. But, what’s more impressive than simple numbers can convey is the news that Aldana won that fight, and did the majority of the damage in it, with a broken hand.
