For the second time in a week, a bout that appeared on the promotion’s website has been called off just days after apparently being made official. Sources told MMA Fighting’s Ariel Helwani that a lingering injury will prevent Bryan Barberena from making a June 1 welterweight bout vs. Jake Ellenberger at UFC Utica that was announced this past Tuesday.
Per Helwani, the Barberena vs. Ellenberger matchup was in discussion, but not finalized. This situation is similar to a recent fight announcement involving Gilbert Burns and Lando Vannata that was also reported on UFC.
