Hunter Azure made his successful Octagon debut at UFC Fight Night 158 in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.
In his debut, he faced a Canadian in Brad Katona, who won "The Ultimate Fighter: Season 27" at featherweight. Although Azure was the underdog, he pulled off the win. Despite taking home the decision, his path to victory was not part of his game plan coming into the bout. He primarily kept the fight on the feet, but his coaches wanted him to outgrapple Katona.
