The inaugural World Boxing Super Series cruiserweight final is set for the Olympic Stadium in Moscow, Russia on Saturday, July 21st. Ukraine’s Oleksandr Usyk (14-0, 11 KOs) and Russia’s Murat Gassiev (26-0-1 NC, 19 KOs) will compete for the Muhammad Ali Trophy, the winner will be crowned undisputed champion and possess all four major titles.
Usyk’s path to the final involved TKOing former champion Marco Huck in the quarterfinals, then edging out WBC champion Mairis Briedis in the semifinals. Both of those wins came in enemy territory, so doing it a third time in as many tournament bouts would be astonishing.
