While the main card of UFC on FOX 27 did a good job of delivering the goods, the card as a whole felt like a letdown. There were numerous fights that had the judges screw up one way or another. There was a string of lackluster fights. Perhaps most importantly, the UFC just wasn’t trying to give us a quality card. Seriously, Jacare Souza and Derek Brunson was the main event for a big FOX card? Sure, that makes a fine FS1 main event – at least compared to many of the cards we’ve been dealt in the last year – but big FOX cards are supposed to be just a step down from PPV quality.
