Once among the most promising Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Welterweight prospects, Erick Silva tonight (Sat., Sept. 24, 2016) was looking to steer out of a two-fight losing skid when he locked horns with Luan Chagas at UFC Fight Night 95 inside Nilson Nelson Gymnasium in Brasilia, Brazil.
Mission accomplished.
Silva -- who had not won a fight beyond the first round in six years -- survived an early knockdown to defeat Chagas via rear-naked choke in the third and final frame. His boxing looked sharp, pumping jabs that snapped back the head of Chagas, who was clearly spent after 13 minutes of back-and-forth competition.
