UFC Norfolk’s headliner was supposed to determine a new flyweight champion. But Deiveson Figueiredo’s weight miss made him ineligible to win the title, despite a second-round TKO win over Joseph Benavidez.
With the 125-pound division still lacking a champion, Henry Cejudo considers this past weekend’s outcome as a successful title defense for himself.
“I am the only fighter in human history to defend my belt on the couch,” he told TMZ Sports. “So remember guys, it’s the ‘Triple C’ weight division. You guys can all get it.”
While he does recognize Figueiredo’s efforts, Cejudo also criticized the Brazilian for missing the mark on the scales.
