A welterweight showdown between Gunnar Nelson and Thiago Alves was officially announced by the UFC as the first match-up for its first trip to Copenhagen, Denmark, on Sept. 28.
The UFC has yet to announce the main event attraction for UFC Copenhagen.
Nelson (17-4-1) looks to rebound from a split decision defeat to Leon Edwards in the co-main event of UFC London in March. Prior to that, Gunni scored an impressive second-round submission over Alex Oliveira in Toronto, Canada, last December.
Alves (23-14) is also coming off a loss, a unanimous decision defeat to Laureano Staropoli in May in Rio de Janeiro, after a close split decision victory over Max Griffin in his hometown of Fortaleza in February.
