Abel Sanchez, trainer of Gennady Golovkin, is having none of Canelo Alvarez's requests for a potential Canelo-GGG superfight to be held at a 155 lbs catchweight.
On Saturday night, Gennady Golovkin (35-0, 32 KOs) ripped through the hopelessly overmatched Dominic Wade to retain his WBA and IBF middleweight belts. The 2nd round KO fulfilled GGG's "mandatory challenger" obligations with the IBF, who'd named Tureano Johnson as the #1 contender, but couldn't fight due to shoulder surgery, hence Wade was the next man in line.
The big interest for most boxing fans is whether or not we'll see Golovkin fight Mexican superstar Canelo Alvarez, in what would clearly be the best and most exciting fight to make in the current boxing landscape.
