A light heavyweight clash between Gian Villante and Francimar Barroso was added to UFC 220 in Boston on Jan. 20, the promotion announced following a report by Newsday.
Villante (15-9) will attempt to snap a two-fight losing streak in his first fight in 2018, looking to get back on track following defeats to Mauricio Rua (TKO) and Patrick Cummins (decision). Villante’s last win was a second-round finish over Saparbek Safarov in Dec. 2016.
Barroso (19-6, 1 no-contest) also returns to the Octagon following a loss, an unanimous decision defeat to Aleksandar Rakic after fighting Darren Stewart twice in the UFC — the first bout ended in a no-contest in Brazil, and “Bodao” won the rematch via decision four months later.
