A bantamweight clash between Frankie Saenz and Augusto Mendes was added to the promotion’s next trip to Phoenix on Jan. 15, MMA Fighting has confirmed following a report by FOX Sports.
Saenz (10-4) has his back against the wall following consecutive losses to Uriah Faber and Eddie Wineland. Prior to the defeats, the Phoenix-based fighter was riding a seven-fight winning streak, which included three victories under the UFC banner.
Mendes (5-1), a multiple-time jiu-jitsu and submission world champion, made his UFC debut on short notice against Cody Garbrandt in February, but suffered a first-round loss.
