Four-time NCAA All-American wrestler Gregor Gillespie will make his Ultimate Fighting Championship debut opposite Glaico Franca at UFC Fight Night “Cyborg vs. Lansberg” on Sept. 24 at Nilson Nelson Gymnasium in Brasilia, Brazil. Franca replaced Joaquim Silva, who withdrew from the event due to injury.
Gillespie will enter the UFC with an amateur wrestling pedigree few can match, as he won a national championship at Edinboro University in 2007. “The Gift” still ranks first on Edinboro’s all-time list in career wins (152) and winning percentage (.917), and he remains one of only two wrestlers -- Josh Koscheck is the other -- in school history to earn All-America honors four times.
