USADA has announced that they have suspended Jessica Penne for 18 months, after her sample from March 20, 2017 was flagged.
Penne passed the original tests from back then, but as her Athlete Biological Passport was reviewed, the sample was “flagged for additional analysis due to an increased degree of variability in urinary biomarkers measured in the sample.”
A carbon isotope-ratio mass spectrometry (GC/C/IRMS) analysis was done because of this, and it confirmed the presence of a a synthetic anabolic agent.
Penne was able to identify a supplement containing dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA) that caused the positive test, which was recommended to her by a doctor.
