Former manager of UFC champs pleas guilty to tax evasion, could face prison time

Monte Cox, former manager of UFC champs Matt Hughes, Rich Franklin and Tim Sylvia is facing up to three years in prison for tax evasion.

Monte Cox, a legendary pioneer of MMA promotion in the 1990s who went on to manage multiple UFC champs in the Zuffa era, has pled guilty to one count of filing a false tax return in a plea deal with prosecutors according to the Quad-City Times.

Cox will be sentenced on February 24th and faces up to three years in prison and a maximum fine of $100,000. Cox admitted to receiving checks whose dollar amounts "significantly exceeded" the income he reported on his tax filings for 2007-2010.
