Floyd Mayweather said he was going to drop all of his titles. Then he backtracked. Now the WBO has stripped him of their welterweight title.
Another day, another goofy Floyd Mayweather story. Back in May in the aftermath of his unanimous decision win over Manny Pacquiao, Mayweather told the media that he was going to drop all of his titles and his last fight (scheduled for September) wouldn't be for a title. But this is Floyd we're talking about, so it surprised approximately no one when he changed his mind a month later.
By then though, the WBO had scheduled a bout between Timothy Bradley and Jesse Vargas for their version of the welterweight title.
