After years of attempting to break into the market, the UFC is set to make its official debut in the Russian Federation on September 15. The event — a Fight Nights show headlined by Aleksei Oleinik and Mark Hunt — will take place at the Olympic Stadium in Moscow, and will feature a selection of homegrown talent. Yet despite the significance of the event, the country’s most famous MMA fighter will not be in attendance.
Fedor Emelianenko, arguably the greatest heavyweight fighter in the history of the sport, revealed that he has no intention of attending the upcoming UFC show in Moscow.
