Following a prolonged investigation that involved contacting notable figures in MMA to determine the business practices of the UFC and parent company Zuffa Inc., the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) closed its second investigation in three years.
Back in May, BloodyElbow revealed that the FTC had opened an investigation into Zuffa, LLC for possible violations of Federal regulations. This was the second time that the FTC investigated the UFC. The agency investigated Zuffa in 2012 following the acquisition of rival promotion Strikeforce. No action was taken against the promotion and the case was presumed closed.
