Father: Amanda Ribas Suffered ‘Total Rupture of Biceps Tendon’ Ahead of UFC on ESPN 36

Not only did Amanda Ribas move up a weight class on Saturday night, but it sounds as though she was competing at less than 100 percent.

Ribas was competitive against flyweight contender Katlyn Chookagian at UFC on ESPN 36, ultimately losing a split decision in a bout that received “Fight of the Night” honors at the end of the evening. Marcelo Ribas, the father of the Brazilian fighter, took to Instagram to reveal that Ribas suffered a “total rupture of the biceps tendon” 25 days before the fight.

“A very stressful month,” Marcelo wrote on Instagram.
