Fabricio Werdum is the latest fighter to fall into the USADA trap. The former heavyweight champion was sanctioned by the United States Anti-Doping Association based on an out-of-competition test, according to a press release from the UFC:
“The UFC organization was notified today that the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) has informed Fabricio Werdum of a potential Anti-Doping Policy violation stemming from an out-of-competition sample collected on April 25, 2018.”
The 40-year-old Werdum (23-8-1, 11-5 UFC) last competed in March, when he was knocked out by Alexander Volkov. He held the UFC’s heavyweight title for a year and a half from 2014-2016, winning an interim strap at first by beating Mark Hunt, then unifying it with a big submission win over Cain Velasquez.
