Fabricio Werdum was charged with common assault and fined $600 for hitting Colby Covington with a boomerang outside the UFC fighter’s hotel in Sydney last month, according to a report from 9news.com.au.
Werdum did not appear in Downing Centre Local Court on Wednesday, but his case was heard and the fine was issued in his absence. Covington pressed charges against the Brazilian heavyweight shortly after the incident. Covington also alleged that Werdum punched him while he was looking at his phone in the lobby of the UFC host hotel.
The two fighters also engaged in an ugly verbal altercation that was filmed by Covington.
