Since losing the UFC heavyweight title to Stipe Miocic at UFC 198 in May 2016, Fabricio Werdum was able to get himself back on track. Save for a close decision loss to Alistair Overeem last July, the former champion has gone 3-1 in his last four fights.
Werdum has since been arguing his case for the next title shot, saying his credentials alone should be a good enough basis. After Saturday’s UFC 220 event in Boston, “Vai Cavalho” is now assured that he will be holding the belt once again, and is expecting it to happen within the year.
