Last week, according to the New York Daily News, former Bellator MMA fighter Sergio da Silva, 32, was convicted of robbing a bank in Queens, NY. That crime occurred on August 24th, 2017.
The robbery took place at a Citibank branch in Queens’ Astoria neighbourhood, steps away from da Silva’s residence. During the robbery da Silva, who was masked and wearing a hoodie, hopped the bank counter while claiming to be armed with a gun. Da Silva threatened to shoot a bank teller before leaving the building with $45,000 in cash.
Jurors deliberated for four days and eventually found da Silva guilty of third-degree robbery.
