If the mixed martial arts (MMA) world has forgotten about Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Featherweight defector Dustin Poirier, it should pay close attention.
Poirier (19-4) has reinvented himself at the Lightweight level. Since leaving the 145-pound division behind after succumbing to Conor McGregor's power at UFC 178, the 27-year-old has displayed an evolved package of crisp striking, overwhelming grappling, and finishing ability. As a result, the former Featherweight contender has won his first three appearances at 155 pounds.
Currently scheduled to welcome Strikeforce veteran Bobby Green back to the Octagon at UFC 199 on June 4, Poirier will have a prime opportunity to catapult himself to the borders of title contention.
