Luan Santiago and Benoit St. Denis successfully made weight Wednesday for a super lightweight (165 pounds) title eliminator bout in the main event of Brave CF 49 in Bahrain, but Santiagos’s teammate Gabriel Miranda was left without an opponent.
“Fly” was slated to face Colombian featherweight Dumar Roa in the antepenultimate fight of the night, but “Corazon de Leon” stepped on the scale at 159,2 pounds, way over the 146-pound limit for non-championship bouts.
Brave CF announced the fight was canceled and Miranda will be paid his show money.
“I’m in a mix of emotions that I’ve never felt before,” Miranda wrote in a statement to MMA Fighting.
