Dominick Cruz and TJ Dillashaw put on a show for the Boston crowd in attendance Sunday evening at UFC Fight Night 81.
For five rounds, the two bantamweight stars went back and forth, trading shots and attempting a variety of strikes, feints and takedowns. After 25 minutes, the fate of the bout rested in the hands of the three men sitting cageside.
In the end, it was a raised hand for Cruz and slumped shoulders for Dillashaw, as the former WEC bantamweight champion regained his title via split-decision (49-46, 48-47, 46-49). For their efforts, each half of the main event will take home a $50,000 Fight of the Night bonus, UFC President Dana White announced in the post-fight press conference.
